About 32 Camden Street — Thirty Two Camden Lofts
Just a few of the key buzzwords surrounding the soft lofts at 32 Camden include: intimate, boutique, and sleek. That’s what you get, at least, when Core Architects and Sorbara Group create a contemporary soft loft residence in the heart of downtown Toronto.
In fact, the designers behind 32 Camden had no choice but to build a cozy community, thanks to its location on Camden Street, sandwiched between two buildings in the Queen West neighbourhood.
And yet still, for an urban mid-rise soft loft, residents have plenty of common areas to enjoy. The building features a gym, a lounge with pool table and outdoor terrace, and a community space on the ground level.
Built in 2013, the design certainly has contemporary buyers in mind: the façade is angular, smooth, and glass-clad, all at once. And while no permanent parking is available for residents, perhaps this is a reflection on a demographic that simply relies less on cars. Those living here do, however, have access to a bike and car share program, as well as visitor parking for their guests.
The Suites
After making one’s way past the warm wooden door, and into the homes surrounded by a cool concrete and glass exterior, the details only prove more impressive.
With only 87 units in the entire building, Toronto condos for sale here come in a surprising array of layouts, sizes, and exposures. Spread out over 12 storeys, the soft lofts range from around 350 to approximately 1,350 square feet — they can be as cozy as studios and as spacious as three-bedroom urban palaces.
The ultra-modern homes are outfitted with hardwood flooring and stainless steel appliances, both found within open concept living areas. And to top it all off, many homes in the building also boast generous balconies or terraces.
The Neighbourhood
Quite suitably, the soft lofts are located in the heart of the Fashion District. As a result, those living in the building have a chance to be fashionable both in the home and outside of it. Thankfully, though, prospective buyers looking for a bit of privacy will love the building’s setting on a quieter side street.
With its close proximity to Spadina Avenue, residents can spend a day walking around Chinatown, or visiting Kensington Market and the Art Gallery of Ontario. Culture lovers will also appreciate living so close to venues including the Scotiabank Theatre, the Tiff Bell Lightbox, the Princess of Wales Theatre, and Roy Thompson Hall.
The only trouble with eating out when living at 32 Camden is choosing where to go on any given night. Between casual eclectic eateries on Queen West and upscale options for everything from steak to authentic Neapolitan pizza on King, there’s something for every taste.
For those who love to cook, on the other hand, living at 32 Camden means never having to travel far for groceries. Options include the Metro at Wellington and John, Independent City Market on Peter, or Fresh & Wild Food Market at the corner of Spadina and King.
Transportation
Thanks to its central locale, moving about from 32 Camden is simple, no matter how many wheels a resident has access to. Those without any, for example, can take a ride on the Spadina streetcar in order to reach as far south as Lake Ontario or as far north as Spadina Station. Alternatively, Queen and King streetcars are ideal for east-west travel, making stops at various stations on the Yonge-University-Spadina line along the way.
Those who prefer to travel using two wheels can head east or west along the bicycle lanes on Richmond and Adelaide. And as for those using four, the Gardiner Expressway is only a short trip away, and can be accessed via Spadina. Jetsetters leaving the city altogether can also reach both Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport and Pearson International Airport in about 30 minutes by car.
